The St. John the Beloved Choir is an adult ensemble that performs at Mass each week and for special musical and religious events for the parish. While primarily a traditional, classical choir singing great works spanning the Renaissance through the 21st century, the group also performs a wide range of styles and genres including some Gospel, Contemporary, and World Music selections.
The SJB Choir has performed Lessons and Carols, Taizé services, and special concert events of great works including Vivaldi’s Gloria, Stainer’s Crucifixion, Rutter’s Requiem, the Brahms Requiem, Vaughan Williams’ Five Mystical Songs and Lizst’s Via Crucis. The choir rehearses once weekly except in July and sings at one Mass on Sundays.
The music ministry also offers a concert series for the surrounding community, funded solely by donations from patrons and businesses.
If you are interested in participating in any of our music ministries, please contact Jen Roland, the Music Director, to schedule a preliminary meeting. She can be reached by email at [email protected].
