THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION
 TIMELINE

 
The following is for candidates who are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Both Catholic School and Faith Formation Students. At least one parent or sponsor should attend the Parent sessions when needed.  Confirmation Year 1 will begin in 8th grade, and Confirmation Year 2 will be in 9th grade.  Classes will be held in Madden Hall.

Requirements for Confirmation

•  Be in a Religious Education Program the year before the year of preparation
•  Weekly Mass participation in the Eucharist and the prayer life of their faith community
•  The ability to freely request the Sacrament of Confirmation and give reasons why
•  An adequate grasp of the basic content of the Catholic Faith
•  Openness to growth in faith and opportunities for Christian service
•  A recognition by the candidate that he/she is a unique individual with gifts to offer and a willingness to share these gifts with the faith community
• Participate in Catechetical Sessions:
•   Regular attendance at catechetical sessions is vitally important
•   Special sessions, which may include parents and/or sponsors, are also critical to     good preparation for the sacrament.
•  Attendance is critical no more than 3 absences each year
• Participate in Confirmation Retreat...mandatory!
• Participate in Confirmation Service...a minimum of 12 hours...with 8 Parish hours and 4 Community hours...can have more!
• Choose a Qualified Sponsor       
• Must provide a valid Baptismal certificate...present upon registration
• Must attend MS/HS Youth Ministry
